Basics of Turkish Oryantal Bellydance
with Jamie Lynn Shelton
Come learn the basics of Turkish Oryantal style Bellydance in a 2-hour
workshop designed to familiarize you with the particular moves and style
that characterize Classical Turkish Bellydance. Learn the history of
Turkish dance, how to distinguish the music, the basic rhythms and add
onto your existing knowledge of Bellydance moves with the singular style
that is Turkish.
Bear in mind, this is not Gypsy, Rom or
Folkloric Turkish, but rather a style that utilizes aspects of the
previously mentioned styles combined with Arabic dance and even some
Indian influences. There's gonna be a lot of hip twisting fun going on!
**Participants are expected to have a minimum 3 months bellydance experience (any style) in a classroom environment.**
Jamie Lynn is also
the owner of Qamar Bazaar (silk skirts, costumes, jewelry, and other goodies) and will have some of her beautiful items for
sale in the lobby at Sue's Dance. So don't forget to bring your checkbook or some extra cash!
Registration is $35 in advance, or, $40 at the door (cash only), space allowing. Online registration ends September 14.
